How to Join SFNet QWK using SBBS

If you are a Synchronet sysop, you will need to know your BBS QWK ID. You
can find that by running SCFG and choosing Message Options -> QWK ID. If
you are not running Synchronet, or any other system that requires you to
use an ID that is part of your BBS settings, you may choose an up-to
8-position alias which you will use to log onto the BBS's ftp site and
exchange QWK/REP packets.

Telnet to capitolcityonline.net (on the default port 23), or SSH using port
2022. Choose option 'Q' at the matrix menu. Log on as NEW.

Answer the prompts accordingly, playing particular attention to these:

>What is your login name: <enter up-to 8-position BBS QWK ID here!>

>What is your e-mail address: <the email address you want to receive mail from the
hub sysop at>

>Are you creating this account for a QWK Networked BBS - Y
>Are you sure this account is for QWK Networking - Y

Message to Sysop -- enter a brief message letting the sysop know you are
opening an SFNET QWK account.

ALSO, somewhere in there you will be asked to set a password. Be sure you
don't forget it, as you will need it to make your QWK mail exchanges!!!

After you have received notification that your account is approved, log back
onto the Capitol City QWK Hub. At the Main Menu, choose (A) Message Areas.

At the Mail Menu, choose (O) Offline Mail.

At the Offline Mail Menu, choose (S) Subscribe to Areas. Then choose SFNET
and subscribe to the areas you want to carry.

You should now be ready to go on the QWK HUB!

Now you will need to configure your BBS software to make the outbound QWK
"calls" to the HUB, to process the echos to the proper message areas on
your BBS, etc.

For Synchronet sysops, the HUB's QWK ID is: CAPCITY2
For all sysops, the BBS FTP address to exchange mail is:
capitolcityonline.net on the default FTP ports.

If you are running Synchronet, there are helpful tips in getting QWK
networking set up here: http://wiki.synchro.net/howto:dove-net
If you are running any other BBS software, consult the instructions. I am
only fluent in QWK networking with Synchornet, Scorpio, & GT Power/BGNET. :)
